Power & Authority

Then Jesus said to them, “So wherever you go in the world, tell everyone the Good News. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

“These are the miraculous signs that will accompany believers: They will use the power and authority of my name to force demons out of people. They will speak new languages. They will pick up snakes, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them. They will place their hands on the sick and cure them.”

Mark 16:15-18 GW

I’m a free range disciple.

A free radical.

In the last two years, I’ve been a member of four different local churches.

They all seem puzzled at my power and authority.

I’m not with the in crowd.

I’m with the outsiders.

My heart is for the lost and disenfranchised.

If you like to be an elitist, you will be condemned.

God does not play favorites.

Love everyone equally.

That’s my motto.

This journey of faith has been an adventure.

I face the most persecution from those within the confines of religion.

I get it.

I upset your applecart.

I didn’t mean to.

Just being myself seems to rub the religious the wrong way.

I’m all about God’s grace, mercy and love.

I don’t care what you did yesterday, last week, last year.

I care about what you’re doing right now.

After all, we live in the present.

Are you loving God?

Are you loving your neighbor?

Are you loving your enemies?

Are you becoming God’s self-sacrificing, life-giving love?

That’s what I want to know.

Sometimes, I feel like I’m just the tip of the spear.

The movement is coming.

I’m just at the bleeding edge.

That’s where I’m most comfortable.

Some people like to play it safe.

My eternal security is in Christ, so what do I have to worry about?

I want to manifest the glory of God in my words, thoughts and actions.

I believe in Jesus.

I believe in His accurate teachings.

I’m following His lead.

It’s not convenient.

It’s not cool.

It’s not something for the faint of heart.

Revival, revolution and renewal are coming.

And it starts with you.

And it starts with me.

When we align our lives to Scripture and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, we shatter worldly paradigms and expose every fallen way of the enemy.

We cannot fail.

It’s impossible.

Trust and obey.

God will take care of everything.

Amen.
