Citizens of Heaven

I have often told you, and now tell you with tears in my eyes, that many live as the enemies of the cross of Christ. In the end they will be destroyed. Their own emotions are their god, and they take pride in the shameful things they do. Their minds are set on worldly things. We, however, are citizens of heaven. We look forward to the Lord Jesus Christ coming from heaven as our Savior.

Philippians 3:18-20 GW

Have you ever met someone who belonged to a religious cult?

They pretend to be concerned about spiritual things, but, in fact, they are obsessed with worldly things.

Things like power, manipulation, and control of others’ behaviour.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Christ came to set the captives free.

Religion is a return to bondage.

The forms and practices of religion are powerless to do anything to make you a better person.

It’s God’s Spirit that transforms us and causes us to do the things that please God.

Have you ever met someone who was weak in their faith?

They think they can only eat vegetables.

If that were the case, then why did Jesus feed people fish?

There is a constant battle going on in the heavenly realms between the liberating Spirit of Christ and the demonic forces of religion.

Religion tries to put God in a box.

Faith tries to take us out of our boxes.

The cross of Christ proclaims that God Himself has declared us not guilty.

Who is the accuser of the brethren?

Is it not Satan himself?

The closer I draw to God, the more the attacks come from all around.

As an elderly friend of mine once said upon arriving at my house, “We’re here to give the Devil a bad time.”

We rejoice in the Lord.

He is our shield and our hope.

All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given unto Him.

We are the children of God.

Citizens of Heaven.

God is Our Father.

Christ is Our Saviour.

And that’s something to savor.

May the Lord bless you with His peace today and everyday.

Amen.

  1. Jesus commanded us to heal the sick and cast out demons in his name and to love your neighbor. That’s what we should try to do. That is the heart of Christ. If we aren’t out using the grace he’s given us to help witness to others through serving them, then we can’t claim the inheritance.
